Who it’s for

When to consider behavioral health telehealth

Telehealth may be a convenient option if you are seeking behavioral-health care but prefer not to travel to the Chicago office for every eligible appointment.

Virtual care may be helpful for patients managing:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • ADHD-related concerns
  • Psychiatric medication
  • Changes in mood or concentration
  • Medication side effects
  • Ongoing behavioral-health follow-up

Telehealth can also make ongoing care more accessible for people with transportation challenges, busy schedules, or greater distance from the office.

A virtual visit remains a clinical healthcare appointment and is held to the applicable standard of care. Illinois law permits healthcare professionals to provide telehealth within their licensed scope of practice and requires professionals treating patients located in Illinois through telehealth to be licensed or otherwise authorized to practice in Illinois. ADHD Care Through Telehealth

Many parts of an ADHD evaluation may be appropriate for virtual care, including clinical interviews, developmental-history review, rating-scale discussion, records review, and selected follow-up.

An ADHD evaluation does not automatically result in a diagnosis or medication prescription.

Additional records, information from parents or teachers, reliable vital signs, or an office assessment may sometimes be needed.

Medication Through Telehealth

Medication may be prescribed through telehealth when your provider determines that it is clinically appropriate and legally permitted.

A virtual appointment does not guarantee:

  • A prescription
  • A particular medication
  • A controlled medication
  • Continuation of medication previously prescribed elsewhere

Controlled substances have additional federal and state requirements. Renovare may require previous records, pharmacy information, reliable vital signs, testing, or an in-person assessment before prescribing or continuing certain medications.
