Who it’s for
When to consider an ADHD evaluation
An evaluation may be helpful when persistent difficulties with attention, organization, follow-through, time management, impulsivity, or restlessness begin interfering with everyday functioning.
Concerns may include frequently losing things, forgetting appointments, missing deadlines, struggling to complete tasks, becoming easily distracted, or having difficulty staying organized.
Experiencing these difficulties does not automatically mean someone has ADHD.
Sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, learning difficulties, and other concerns can sometimes produce similar symptoms, so the evaluation looks beyond a checklist or screening score.
How it works
Treatment options
Behavioral & organizational support
Practical strategies may help with planning, routines, organization, time management, and everyday functioning.
Medication management
Stimulant or non-stimulant medication may be considered when clinically appropriate after an adequate evaluation.
Additional support & referrals
Therapy, school or workplace support, or specialized psychological or educational testing may be recommended when appropriate.
Treatment is individualized rather than determined by the diagnosis alone. ADHD care can involve medication, behavioral approaches, or a combination depending on the patient’s needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can adults be evaluated for ADHD?
Yes. Adults can be evaluated even if ADHD was not diagnosed during childhood. The evaluation considers whether symptoms were present earlier in development.
Is one questionnaire enough to diagnose ADHD?
No. Rating scales may provide useful information, but ADHD diagnosis requires a broader clinical evaluation.
Can ADHD be confused with anxiety or depression?
Yes. Anxiety, depression, sleep problems, learning difficulties, and other conditions can affect concentration and functioning.
Can an ADHD evaluation be completed through telehealth?
Many interview and follow-up components may be completed virtually when clinically appropriate. Additional records, vital signs, or an office assessment may still be needed.
Will I receive medication after my evaluation?
Not necessarily. Medication is prescribed only when clinically appropriate, and a stimulant or another specific medication is not guaranteed.
Does insurance cover ADHD evaluations?
Many plans may cover eligible psychiatric evaluations, but benefits vary. Psychological, educational, and neuropsychological testing may have different coverage.
Insurance and Payment
Renovare accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Illinois Medicaid, along with many commercial and managed-care plans. Coverage for ADHD varies by plan and service. Psychiatric evaluation may be covered differently from psychological, educational, or neuropsychological testing.
