Who it’s for

When to consider care

Depression is more than occasionally feeling sad or discouraged. Symptoms can include persistent low mood, loss of interest, fatigue, sleep or appetite changes, difficulty concentrating, feelings of guilt or hopelessness, and difficulty managing normal responsibilities.

Having some of these symptoms does not automatically mean someone has a depressive disorder. Medical conditions, medication effects, substance use, sleep problems and other behavioral-health conditions can also contribute.

Consider seeking an evaluation when symptoms persist, worsen or begin affecting work, relationships, self-care, sleep or everyday functioning.

How it works

Treatment options

Psychiatric medication management

Antidepressant medication may be considered when clinically appropriate. Medication management includes evaluating whether medication is appropriate, monitoring response and side effects, reviewing potential interactions and adjusting treatment when needed.

Through telehealth

Many depression-related appointments may be appropriate for secure telehealth, including selected evaluations, medication follow-up, symptom review and treatment-plan discussions.
